Laura is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA), the American Woman’s Society of Certified Public Accountants (AWSCPA), and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and currently serves as Chairperson of the Finance Council for the St. Petersburg Diocese. Laura is a member of the Advisory Board at the University of South Florida - St. Petersburg, College of Business Program on Social Responsibility and Corporate Reporting, and the St. Petersburg College Applied Ethics Institute.

Laura served as member of the Board of Governors of the FICPA from 1994-1996 and is a past president of the FICPA – West Coast Chapter, AWSCPA – Tampa Bay affiliate, and the ACFE – Tampa Bay Chapter. She is also the past president of the St. Petersburg College Alumni Association, Rotary Club of Clearwater East, Clearwater Panhellenic, and the Clearwater Delta Delta Delta Alumni.

She and her husband, Jim, are members of St. Jerome Catholic Church and reside in Seminole with their two children.

Laura graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She obtained her Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation in 1994. Laura has over twenty-five years of audit and accounting experience in public accounting, including fraud and forensic services.

Her experience as a Certified Fraud Examiner has included uncovering management fraud, employee fraud, cash frauds, check forgery, payroll frauds, altered documents such as bank statements, canceled checks, falsified resumes, and payroll tax returns. She also has provided consulting services identifying fraud risks and providing recommendations for weaknesses in internal controls. She is a frequent lecturer on subjects including auditing and accounting and fraud related topics.
