Tapp Named Managing Shareholder

ST. PETERSBURG – Kirkland, Russ, Murphy & Tapp, P.A. (KRMT) recently announced the appointment of William G. Tapp as Managing Shareholder of the firm.   Tapp, who joined the firm as a Tax Shareholder in 1994, received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of South Florida. He has over 25 years of public accounting experience and has worked closely with various types of business entities and has assisted business owners with related tax matters. Bill’s relevant industry experience includes work with manufacturing, distribution, retailing, automotive and construction entities, professional service firms and high wealth individuals.

Kirkland, Russ, Murphy and Tapp, P.A. (KRMT) is a professional services firm providing assurance, tax, financial advisory and consulting services to private and publicly traded businesses. This is the first time that KRMT has utilized a Managing Shareholder for firm governance. In the past, KRMT has been managed on a committee basis by Jack Kirkland, Andy Russ, Bruce Murphy and Tapp. Due to strong growth in terms of revenue base and personnel, as well as the admission of new shareholders to the practice, the shareholders felt that a Managing Shareholder approach was important in order for KRMT to achieve its current and long term strategic goals.

Tapp is active in numerous outside organizations. He currently serves as Board Chair of the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg and as Chair of the Consultative Board for St. Petersburg Catholic High School. He also serves as Treasurer of BayCare Health System and is a member of the Finance Council of the Diocese of St. Petersburg as well as a member of the Advisory Council of the University of South Florida School of Accounting. He has previously served as Board Chair for a variety of other organizations including St. Anthony’s Health Care, St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce, the Police Athletic League (PAL), the Florida International Museum and Junior Achievement.
